Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is pushing for nationwide distribution of B50 biodiesel at all gas stations by October 1, 2026. The mandate, which started July 1, includes a three-month transition period for suppliers to clear remaining B40 stocks and adjust blending processes. The ministry reports that 57 percent of stations already sell B50. The government estimates the B50 program will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 44.46 million tons of CO2 equivalent in 2026, save around Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange, and support about 2.1 million jobs. Indonesia is the first country to mandate a 50 percent biodiesel blend, building on previous B30, B35, and B40 programs. A full evaluation is planned for December 2026.
