Indonesia reaffirms commitment to high-integrity carbon market with new registry and forestry credits
en.antaranews.comIndonesia's Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has reiterated the country's commitment to building a credible, transparent carbon market to attract global climate finance. Speaking at London Climate Action Week, he highlighted that the carbon market can channel investment for emissions reduction, forest protection, and sustainable development. Key upcoming milestones include the launch of the Carbon Unit Registry System (SRUK) on July 9, 2026, and the issuance of over 30 million tons of CO2e in forestry carbon credits on July 6, 2026. The government is strengthening national carbon governance through Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 and two new ministerial regulations covering carbon management, transparency, and investment certainty in forestry. Ahead of COP31, Indonesia is pushing for stronger market integrity, better infrastructure and liquidity mechanisms, and tangible benefits for local communities and indigenous peoples. The country's vast tropical forests position it as a major player in the global carbon market.
