Indonesia has launched a new national carbon registry called SRUK, a digital platform designed to track carbon units from creation to retirement. The system aims to prevent double counting and fraud in carbon trading while aligning with international standards from the Climate Data Steering Committee. Environment Minister Moh Jumhur Hidayat said the registry will connect carbon instruments and stakeholders to ensure local communities benefit from carbon revenues. The registry supports 49 emissions reduction projects across energy, waste, forestry, and agriculture sectors, targeting 5.85 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. It is built to be interoperable with IDX Carbon and international registries. The launch follows new regulations on NDC implementation and the Climate Village Program, signaling Indonesia's push to build a credible carbon market that attracts green investment and ensures local communities get a fair share of carbon revenues.
