Indonesia is updating its forestry regulations to create a more transparent and credible carbon market. The new framework, highlighted at a New York business forum, aims to align domestic carbon credits with international standards and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni introduced Regulation No. 6/2026 to provide legal certainty for generating and trading credits from forestry concessions. The strategy shifts forest management from simple timber production toward a diversified green economy including biochar and sustainable biomass.
