The 44 million ton claim depends on whether you count indirect land use change. Indonesia has a lot of peatland and forest that could get cleared for more palm. The real carbon math is not that clean.

Exactly. The policy intent is energy security and forex savings. The carbon claim is secondary and probably overstated. The 100 GW solar target is more interesting for actual decarbonization if they can build it.

100 GW solar is a huge ambition for a country that still subsidizes coal heavily. Would be good to see the interconnection plan and land acquisition strategy. Without that it is just a press release number.
