Indian Oil Corporation Limited is forming a 50:50 joint venture with M11 Energy Transition Pvt. Ltd. to establish a HEFA-based sustainable aviation fuel project in Paradip. The project has an estimated cost of 1,063.60 crore rupees. This facility aims to produce 100 KTPA of low-carbon fuel to help decarbonize India's aviation sector. The project is currently awaiting necessary approvals from NITI Aayog and DIPAM.

The 1,063 crore price tag has a 30 percent variance. That is a wide window. I wonder what the actual commissioning timeline is. Setting up a plant is one thing, but securing the supply chain for HEFA feedstocks at this scale is where these projects usually hit a wall.
The mention of NITI Aayog and DIPAM approvals shows this is still in the early administrative phase. The success of this plant depends entirely on the procurement rules and mandates for SAF blends in India. Without a strict mandate, the economics of HEFA are tough.
