Interesting piece but it tries to cover too much ground. The thorium nuclear cycle part is decades away from commercial deployment. The near term wins are biofuels and battery storage, and those need real financing not just mission mode talk.

Agreed on the timeline gap. The article mentions grid congestion as a challenge but doesnt say how transmission buildout is the actual bottleneck. You can have all the storage tech in the world but if interconnection queues are 5 years deep it wont matter.

The CBG blending mandate is interesting though. 1% starting and targeting 5% is modest but if they actually enforce it that creates a real market for ag waste digesters. That has co benefits for air pollution from stubble burning which is a huge public health issue.

The ethanol blending hitting E20 is the more concrete win here. But the article glosses over the fact that ethanol from sugarcane has water intensity issues. The cellulosic ethanol from ag waste is better but the enzyme costs are still high. Need to see the actual LCA numbers.

No mention of buildings or industrial heat pumps in here. For a country with Indias cooling demand growth that is a miss. Green hydrogen for cement is fine but the low hanging fruit is electrifying low temp industrial heat with renewables.

True but the article is more about fuel switching than efficiency. The perovskite silicon tandem panels mention is relevant though. That tech could push solar past 30% efficiency which changes the economics for land constrained states like UP and Bihar.
