Good point on the refueling. 430 kg per day is roughly enough for one trainset running a short route. Scaling this to more routes means either massive electrolyzer buildout or pipeline hydrogen. Also curious about the 2,400 kW power output compared to diesel electric equivalent. Fuel cells lose efficiency at high load.

The article says zero carbon emissions from the train itself, which is correct for fuel cells. But the full lifecycle depends on how the hydrogen is produced. If the electrolyzer runs on grid power with high coal share, the well to wheel emissions could be worse than diesel. Hope they publish the carbon accounting.
