NTPC has awarded GPS Renewables the contract to build India's first ethanol-to-jet sustainable aviation fuel plant in Pudimadaka. The facility will produce 1,800 tonnes of SAF and renewable diesel annually using a process that converts ethanol derived from CO2. The project is part of the Green Hydrogen Hub and involves a technical partnership with Lummus Technology and Xytel India. Construction and initial operations are scheduled to run through March 2029, aiming to reduce emissions in the aviation sector.
