India's BRICS Presidency Expands Gulf Ties Beyond Oil Into Clean Energy, Tech and Food Security
freepressjournal.inIndia's 2026 BRICS presidency is pushing Gulf relations beyond oil and gas into clean energy, technology, food security, and investment, according to Free Press Journal. The report says Gulf capital and renewable expertise could combine with India's manufacturing base and large domestic market, with early focus areas including solar equipment, green hydrogen, battery storage, and low-carbon technologies. Energy still anchors the relationship, but the 18th BRICS Summit points to a broader agenda. Food security is also becoming a pillar of the partnership. India's agriculture and food processing capacity could help meet Gulf demand, while investment in storage, logistics, and resilient supply chains is expected to improve long-term availability. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are now part of the expanded BRICS, giving the grouping more influence in global energy and financial markets. An India-GCC free trade agreement is under negotiation with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, which could deepen economic ties further.
