Translational science sounds good on paper, but the gap between a lab prototype and a grid-scale rollout is usually where things fail. I want to see the actual funding mechanism for the scaling phase.
That is the core issue. If the ANRF only funds the research and not the deployment infrastructure, they are just creating more prototypes that sit on a shelf.
Hope some of this hits industrial heat or building efficiency. We have plenty of lab theories on heat pumps, but we need real world data on how they perform in diverse Indian climates.
Basically, ANRF is telling researchers to stop chasing citations and start solving actual problems. It is a necessary move if India wants to hit its decarbonization targets on time.
