India's Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu chaired a high-level meeting to review the country's preparedness for adopting Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and complying with the CORSIA carbon offsetting scheme starting January 2027. The meeting covered SAF production projects by Oil Marketing Companies, supply chain development, a national SAF Registry, and a CORSIA-compliant carbon market framework. The minister emphasized moving from feasibility studies to concrete production timelines, aiming for a 1% CORSIA blending requirement in the most cost-effective way. India has already switched 104 airports to 100% green energy since 2014. The draft SAF policy is in final stages, with focus on minimizing cost burden on passengers and airlines while building a domestic SAF ecosystem that benefits farmers and the broader value chain.
