India Plans Nuclear Energy Expansion to 100 GW by 2047
ommcomnews.comIndia is looking to significantly increase its nuclear power capacity, moving from its current 8.2 GW toward a long-term goal of 100 GW by 2047. The government has introduced a Nuclear Energy Mission with 200 billion rupees dedicated to the development and deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs). To achieve these targets, India is pursuing regulatory reforms to allow more private sector participation and strengthening fuel supply agreements with Canada. The strategy aims to provide firm, low-carbon baseload power to complement the country's growing renewable energy grid.
