India has opened its first integrated Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) field laboratory at IIT Bombay. Developed by the startup UrjanovaC, the facility focuses on capturing carbon from industrial flue gas and ambient air, then converting it into value-added products or storing it geologically. This modular technology targets hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and power generation. The project aims to provide scalable carbon management tools to help India reach its Net-Zero 2070 goals through indigenous deep-tech innovation.
