Indian enterprises are moving climate technology from pilot projects to full commercial adoption. In a recent BW Businessworld panel, sustainability leaders from ICICI Bank, Dalmia Bharat, Voltas, and HCL Tech said the next phase depends on solutions that show measurable business value, not just successful demos. Dalmia Bharat reported 46% of its electricity from clean sources and 22% of captive power from waste heat recovery, while ICICI Bank has built an ESG reporting platform fed by core banking data. The panel also identified practical gaps for startups to target, including water innovation, low-grade waste heat recovery, safer refrigerants, carbon utilisation, and circular waste management. The message is clear: climate tech that solves real operational problems and delivers commercial returns will get procurement budgets. Policy signals like India's strengthening carbon market will likely shape how fast these technologies scale.
