India's government has officially rated E20 petrol at 100%, stating the fuel blend offers better acceleration, improved ride quality, and approximately 30% lower carbon emissions compared to E10. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi told the Rajya Sabha that extensive studies found no evidence of ethanol-induced engine corrosion or abnormal wear in legacy vehicles. The government also claims higher ethanol blends enable near-zero particulate matter emissions, which could improve urban air quality. This move is part of India's broader push to increase ethanol blending in petrol, though officials have said there is no current plan to raise blending beyond 20%.
