India's Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, met with the European Parliament's ITRE committee in New Delhi to discuss deepening energy cooperation. The talks focused on energy security, power sector transformation, low-carbon development, nuclear energy, and carbon markets, including the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Both sides reviewed ongoing collaboration and explored areas like long-duration energy storage, green hydrogen, CCUS, and small modular reactors (SMRs). India highlighted its progress in non-fossil fuel capacity, grid infrastructure, storage, and smart-grid deployment. The meeting signals continued alignment on energy transition priorities between India and the EU, with an emphasis on resilient and sustainable energy systems. The outcome could influence future bilateral projects and investment flows in clean energy and carbon pricing alignment.
