India electricity data sharing framework for AI startups: CBAM talks and carbon market progress
cnbctv18.comIndia is preparing a national framework for sharing electricity data with utilities and startups, according to Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal. The framework will standardize datasets and guide utilities on data sharing so startups can build AI tools for the power sector. Cybersecurity is a stated priority, and the National Data Governance Committee will be led by the CEA chairman. The application window for startup support under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme remains open until March 31. Separately, India and the EU are deepening talks on carbon markets and CBAM. India wants ISO-based verification standards so Indian auditors and verifiers can register under the EU mechanism. India also highlighted its domestic Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, with emission intensity targets notified for 490 industrial units. Non-fossil sources now make up 308 GW of India's 558 GW total installed capacity.
