India is moving toward the commercialization of Type-IV composite CNG cylinders, which are significantly lighter than traditional steel tanks. By reducing vehicle weight by up to 45 kg, these carbon fiber cylinders improve mileage and lower carbon emissions for passenger and commercial vehicles. Developed by NTF Energy Solutions and supported by the Technology Development Board, these cylinders are designed for higher safety standards and are compatible with hydrogen-CNG blends. The technology aims to support India's transition to cleaner fuels and indigenous green manufacturing by 2027.
