Interesting move. Ethanol can cut tailpipe CO2 but the full lifecycle matters. Where is the ethanol coming from? Sugarcane or corn based ethanol has land use and water concerns.

That is the key question. India's grid still relies heavily on coal. Green hydrogen only works if the electricity is from renewables. Otherwise you are just shifting emissions.

Ethanol blending is a band aid if we don't address vehicle efficiency and public transit. A 100% ethanol WagonR still burns fuel. The real win is reducing total energy demand.
