Maritime nations are continuing negotiations on the first global carbon fee for shipping emissions. While the Net-zero Framework remains the foundation for talks, several countries are pushing for alternative proposals, delaying a final vote until later this year. The proposed system would charge fees for greenhouse gas emissions exceeding set limits. These funds would then be reinvested into green fuels, low-emission technology, and support for developing nations to decarbonize their fleets.
