The villages of River Forest and Skokie have joined the B20 Club, transitioning their municipal vehicle fleets to a 20 percent biodiesel blend. This shift covers a range of heavy equipment, including dump trucks, snowplows, and emergency vehicles, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By using locally produced soybean-based biodiesel, these communities aim to lower their carbon footprint and support the regional agricultural economy. This move highlights the practical application of drop-in low carbon fuels for government operations that cannot yet transition to full electrification.
