IIT Bombay Launches Indigenous Carbon Capture and Storage Pilot Facility
thehindubusinessline.comIIT Bombay has unveiled India's first integrated Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) field laboratory. The project uses a patented aqueous capture technology to pull CO2 from the air and industrial sources, storing it in Deccan basalt formations. Beyond storage, the facility converts captured carbon into calcium carbonate. This byproduct serves as a sustainable alternative to lime in the production of cement, steel, paints, and housing materials.
