IIT Bombay has commissioned a first of its kind pilot scale facility in Mumbai focusing on Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS). The lab integrates indigenous capture technology with geological sequestration in basalt formations to create a closed loop carbon mitigation system. This project, supported by the Bharat Innovates 2026 initiative and the startup UrjanovaC, aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application. It serves as a key component of India's strategy to meet its Net Zero targets and climate commitments.
