Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has partnered with WAE Limited to deploy carbon-neutral water infrastructure across select hotels. WAE will supply on-site glass bottling plants and advanced water purification systems that meet BIS 10500 standards. The goal is to replace single-use plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles purified and bottled on location, cutting packaging waste and transport emissions. WAE's system integrates water purification with circular packaging, allowing hotels to manage water quality in-house while reducing their carbon footprint. The company holds an EcoVadis sustainability rating, covering environment, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This partnership reflects a growing trend in hospitality to embed operational sustainability directly into guest services, rather than treating it as an add-on. For IHCL, the move supports its broader responsible operations commitments. For the sector, it shows how practical infrastructure changes like on-site water treatment can deliver measurable environmental gains without compromising guest experience. The focus on traceability and BIS compliance adds credibility to the carbon-neutral claims.
