7,782 panels at a cooler factory is a solid move. 97.5k metric tons over 25 years works out to about 3,900 tons a year. Would be nice to see the offset as a percentage of their total facility emissions though.

Any word on whether this is behind the meter and what the capacity is? 7,782 panels at typical 400W each would be around 3.1 MW. For a manufacturing facility in Texas that is not huge but not nothing.

Texas has decent solar insolation and no state level RPS but the IRA investment tax credit makes projects like this pencil out. The 30% ITC plus accelerated depreciation likely drove the decision as much as the carbon claim.

Would like to know if they paired this with any efficiency upgrades at the plant. Solar on a leaky building still saves money but you leave a lot on the table. Also what happens during hurricane season in Katy.
