The International Electrotechnical Commission has approved a new standard for the digitalization of product carbon footprints. This framework establishes a common data exchange format and guidelines specifically for the electronics and electrical industries to reduce inconsistencies in emissions reporting. By streamlining how carbon data is shared across international supply chains, the standard aims to improve transparency and accuracy in life cycle emissions measurements. The project was led by Chinese experts with contributions from several other nations, including Germany, France, and Japan.
