French energy firm Idex Group and carbon capture company Nuada are building a 10,000 metric ton per year BECCS hub at Idex's Kogeban biomass plant in the Somme region. The project uses Nuada's MOF-based capture system, which filters CO2 with ultra-porous materials instead of energy-intensive chemical solvents. The system runs on a fully electrified loop, cutting the parasitic load typical of thermal regeneration. Its modular design lets it fit into existing plants without disrupting heat or power output. The captured biogenic CO2 will be split into two streams. Part will be purified and liquefied to food-grade standards for regional manufacturers, replacing fossil-derived CO2. The rest will go to deep geological storage, creating durable negative emissions since the biomass feedstock pulled carbon from the atmosphere during growth. The project has backing from Nord France Invest and the Somme Prefecture, and is meant to serve as a blueprint for European bio-CCS infrastructure. It also creates skilled engineering jobs in the Hauts-de-France region.
