Agreed. The UNFCCC interface is a mess. Countries have their own NDC accounting and CORSIA wants separate tracking. Without clear rules on corresponding adjustments, these credits are basically worthless for compliance.

The article mentions implementation assistance but skips the hard part. Who verifies the transfer? ICAO has no enforcement power over national carbon accounting. This alliance needs a real registry mechanism or it is just a letter of intent.

Also curious about what credits they are even targeting. CORSIA eligible units have been limited so far. If supply is thin, pooling resources only helps if there is something to pool. Anyone know the current volume of approved credits?

Last I checked, CORSIA phase 1 has very few approved programs. Mostly some REDD+ and renewable energy credits. The price signal is weak too. Airlines are not exactly lining up to buy at current levels.
