IATA has formed the Supporting Alliance for CORSIA EEU Supply, bringing together over 32 airlines and organizations to increase the availability of CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units. The goal is to have 225-250 million credits ready by spring 2027. The alliance will help countries manage the transfer of carbon credits between their national climate goals under the Paris Agreement and the CORSIA system, addressing a key bottleneck that has slowed credit supply. CORSIA is the only global framework for offsetting international aviation emissions. The alliance estimates the program could generate $4-5 billion in climate finance during its first phase and up to $100 billion by 2035. Member airlines include Air France-KLM, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa Group, and Qatar Airways. The group will provide pro bono support to countries wanting to authorize domestic emissions units for use under CORSIA, ahead of the first compliance deadline in December 2027.
