Hyundai Motor Group and POSCO are establishing a new integrated steel facility in Louisiana focused on low-carbon automotive steel. The plant will utilize Electric Arc Furnaces and a Direct Reduction Plant featuring ENERGIRON technology, capable of producing 2.5 million tons of DRI annually. The facility is designed for future decarbonization, featuring hydrogen-ready systems and integrated carbon capture. By combining scrap and DRI, the plant aims to reduce the carbon footprint of high-value steel grades for the North American automotive market.
