Hyundai Motor Group and POSCO are establishing a greenfield steel mill in Louisiana focused on automotive grade steel. The facility will utilize electric arc furnaces and a direct-reduced iron plant designed to be hydrogen-ready and equipped with carbon capture technology. This integrated mill aims to reduce the carbon footprint of automotive steel production in North America by utilizing recycled scrap and low-carbon smelting processes. The project includes a production capacity of 2.88 million tonnes per year for the melt shop.

EAFs are great for lowering emissions but they put a massive load on the local grid. I wonder if the Louisiana utility has a plan for the interconnection or if this project is going to face the same queue delays as every other industrial build right now.
