Hyundai and KOICA Send 15 Electric Buses to Marrakesh Under Morocco Climate Aid Project
en.sedaily.comHyundai Motor and Korea's KOICA have handed over 15 Elec City electric buses to Marrakesh, Morocco, as part of an official development assistance program. The package includes fast chargers and related equipment, plus local training and technical cooperation for maintenance. The buses will run on city routes in Marrakesh's main tourist districts, making them the first domestically produced Korean electric buses supplied to Morocco. Morocco is targeting a 45.5% cut from its business-as-usual greenhouse gas emissions projection by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050, with transport as one of the key sectors. The project is small in scale, but the combination of vehicles, charging infrastructure, and maintenance capacity is the kind of practical setup that determines whether an e-bus pilot turns into a real fleet. It also opens a door for Korean commercial EVs in North Africa.
