South Korea has a ton of heavy industry but almost no geology for storage. This is exactly the kind of cross-border deal that makes sense on paper. The real test is whether the pipeline economics and regulatory approvals hold up.

Yeah, the pipeline part is the big unknown. Moving CO2 across borders needs clear liability frameworks and host country buy in. Southeast Asia has the geology but not always the legal setup yet.

Depleted fields are well mapped but you still need to prove seal integrity over decades. A simulation study is step one. The real cost and risk come when you actually inject and monitor.

Cross-border CCS also bumps into Article 6 accounting if the storage is in another country. Who claims the emission reduction? That gets messy fast without bilateral agreements.
