Residents in Flintshire can meet the team behind the HyNet carbon dioxide pipeline at a drop-in event in Hawarden this Wednesday. The session runs from 4pm to 7pm at Hawarden Masonic Hall, with representatives from Liverpool Bay CCS Limited and contractor United Infrastructure on hand to answer questions about local construction work. HyNet is designed to capture CO2 from heavy industry and store it under the Irish Sea, while also producing low-carbon hydrogen. The pipeline runs from Stanlow refinery through Flintshire to Point of Ayr. It will carry CO2 from Heidelberg Materials' cement works and Uniper's proposed power station. The project has faced legal challenges and local safety concerns, so the monthly events give residents a direct line to the team building it.
