A consortium of 20 industrial companies, including Jaguar Land Rover and Pilkington, is bidding for £500 million in UK government funding to build a hydrogen pipeline network in Northwest England. The project aims to transport low-carbon hydrogen from the Stanlow facility to various industrial consumers to replace natural gas. This infrastructure is a central part of the HyNet cluster, which integrates carbon capture and storage with blue and green hydrogen production. The group argues that this funding is necessary to trigger further private investment and secure industrial jobs in the region.
