Hy24, a clean hydrogen investment firm backed by Ardian and FiveT Hydrogen, has agreed to acquire Hynamics from EDF. Hynamics develops and operates low-carbon hydrogen production and distribution projects for heavy mobility and industrial customers in France and the UK. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. Hynamics was created by EDF in 2019. Its projects are meant to supply low-carbon hydrogen to sectors that are hard to electrify directly. Hy24's Clean Hydrogen Infrastructure Fund has raised 2 billion euros, making it one of the largest investment funds focused exclusively on clean hydrogen. The acquisition comes as global hydrogen production exceeds 100 million metric tons annually, most of it still produced from fossil fuels. Scaling green hydrogen, produced via electrolysis powered by renewable electricity, is a key piece of decarbonizing heavy industry and transport.
