Hutchison Ports Sohar has introduced 15 electric terminal trucks (eTTs) from Westwell to reduce carbon emissions at its container terminal. These vehicles feature 282 kWh batteries and support rapid battery swapping to maintain 24/7 operations without the emissions associated with diesel trucks. This move is part of a larger strategy to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2050 and reduce Scope 1 emissions by 90% by 2030. The terminal has already electrified its quay cranes and reach stackers, moving toward a fully low-carbon smart port ecosystem in Oman.
