The Humber region in the UK was presented as a leading industrial cluster for decarbonization at a major event in Taiwan. Humber Energy Board managing director Dr Iain Harris highlighted the region's investments in hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and offshore wind during a bilateral program focused on energy and industrial decarbonization. The visit included discussions with Taiwan's CPC Corporation, which is developing CCS technology to store around 100,000 metric tonnes of CO2 per year. Dr Harris noted that the Humber and Taiwan face similar challenges around industrial decarbonization, investment, and market development. He emphasized that government support and getting business models right are critical for progress. The Humber Energy Board represents 16 major businesses critical to the region's energy transition. In January, the board co-signed a letter with 30 other organizations urging the UK government to re-energize the Humber to unlock investments in hydrogen and CCS infrastructure.
