Hull College opens £5m Greenwave green energy training centre for low-carbon jobs in Humber

Hull College is opening a new £5 million training centre called Greenwave at its city centre campus. The facility will focus on renewable energy, heat pumps, hydrogen technologies, electric vehicles, carbon capture, sustainable construction, and advanced engineering. It is funded by the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund and aims to prepare students for jobs in the Humber's growing low-carbon economy. The college already runs over 145 green skills courses and has trained more than 2,700 learners in the past year. Greenwave will expand that capacity with specialist equipment aligned to offshore wind, decarbonisation, retrofit, and future energy technologies. The centre opens in September 2026 and is part of a broader push to build a skilled workforce for the region's net zero transition.
