Hull College Greenwave Centre: GBP 5m Training Hub for Low Carbon Skills in the Humber Region
thehullstory.comHull College is opening the Greenwave training centre in September 2026, a GBP 5 million facility funded by the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund. The centre will train students in renewable energy, heat pumps, hydrogen technologies, electric vehicles, carbon capture, sustainable construction, and advanced engineering to support the Humber region's low-carbon economy. The college already runs over 145 green skills courses and trained 2,700 learners in the past year. The centre is backed by 29 industry partners and local bodies like the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Skills Improvement Plan and Future Humber. It aims to create clear career pathways from entry level to higher education, addressing the growing demand for skilled workers in offshore wind, decarbonisation, retrofit, and future energy technologies across the Humber.
