HTEC has opened what it calls Canada's first commercial hydrogen refueling station for heavy-duty trucks in Delta, British Columbia. The Tsawwassen station supplies hydrogen at 350 and 700 bar pressure, with capacity of 400 kilograms per day. It supports a dozen fuel-cell electric trucks funded through provincial hydrogen pilot projects. The station gets hydrogen from HTEC's Burnaby production facility, which makes about one tonne per day, plus a liquid hydrogen subsystem adding up to 800 kilograms per day. At 700 bar, a truck can get roughly 700 kilometers of range. The station sits on Tsawwassen First Nation industrial lands and is part of HTEC's broader Metro Vancouver hydrogen hub. Hydrogen trucking remains a small and expensive segment compared to diesel. Companies like Loblaw and Walmart are trialing hydrogen trucks in Canada, but infrastructure and cost barriers persist. This station is one step toward building a network that could make hydrogen logistics more viable.
