It also runs production sites in South Korea, China, and Vietnam, with the Vietnam plant expected to start in the second half of 2026. That three-country network is meant to improve supply stability for global customers.

Lightweight carbon fiber is a big deal for EV range and aircraft fuel burn. But the article doesn't mention the energy cost of making the fiber itself. Graphitization is energy intensive. Would be nice to see a cradle to grave analysis.

The production expansion in Vietnam is interesting for supply chain, but what about the electricity mix there? Carbon fiber plants are power hungry. If the grid is coal heavy, the emissions benefit of lighter parts gets eaten up.

Good to see AS9100 certification, that opens defense and aerospace markets. But the real policy question is whether these materials get preferential treatment in procurement or tax credits for low carbon manufacturing. Without that, the market stays niche.

Carbon fiber is great, but the cost per kilogram is still high. For automotive mass market, it's mostly for premium or performance vehicles. The article says wheels and bonnets, but not structural parts. That limits the emissions impact.
