Hong Kong is integrating hydrogen fuel into its safety regulatory framework under the Gas Safety Ordinance to accelerate decarbonization. The government aims to reduce carbon emissions by half from 2005 levels by 2035, supporting this goal with 37 active or planned hydrogen energy trial projects. Key initiatives include a new green hydrogen certification framework and cross-boundary agreements with Guangdong and South Korea. These efforts focus on streamlining the import, transport, and use of hydrogen to establish a viable low-carbon energy ecosystem.
