Researchers from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have deployed the Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, known as MUSICO, to the Tiangong Space Station. The instrument is designed to monitor high-intensity emissions of carbon dioxide and methane from sources like coal power plants and landfills over a two-year mission. Data from the observatory will be shared with China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment to help establish national carbon reduction targets. The project also involves commercial collaborations with energy providers like CLP to evaluate waste reduction and energy strategies.
