Hong Kong has opened a new solar power facility built on restored landfill in Tseung Kwan O. The project, developed by Veolia, Sun Hung Kai Properties, and Citic Pacific, uses 1,850 solar panels across 140,000 square feet to generate electricity for approximately 360 homes. This installation is the largest of its kind in the city and aims to reduce annual carbon emissions by an amount equivalent to planting 20,000 trees. The project demonstrates a practical use of reclaimed land for urban renewable energy generation.
