The Construction Industry Council (CIC) of Hong Kong has revamped its Sustainable Construction Award to prioritize measurable carbon reduction. New requirements include mandatory joint submissions from full project teams and a dedicated Low Carbon Citation to reward innovation in materials and site practices. To move beyond vague claims, the CIC is integrating data-driven tools for carbon assessment and waste management. The initiative also links verified low-carbon performance to green financing for SMEs and explores site electrification and hydrogen power to replace diesel equipment.
