Honeywell has partnered with Acelen Renewables to build one of the world's largest biofuel complexes in Bahia, Brazil. The plant will use Honeywell's Ecofining technology to convert waste oils, vegetable oils, and makayuba oil into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. The modular construction approach is designed to cut build time and capital costs while supporting Brazil's push to become a leader in renewable energy. The facility will run on the Experion PKS digital platform for integrated production management and predictive analytics. Developers claim that blending SAF with conventional jet fuel can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 percent. Global demand for SAF is forecast to reach 500,000 barrels per day within the next decade, and this project is positioned to help meet that need at scale.
