Honda Malaysia installs 5.6 MW solar at Melaka plant with battery storage, cutting CO2 by 4,584 tonnes annually
klsescreener.comHonda Malaysia has completed a RM14 million solar installation at its Melaka manufacturing plant, covering rooftops with 8,960 panels totaling 5.6 MW capacity. The system is expected to generate 7,042 MWh of renewable electricity per year, cutting the plant's carbon emissions by about 4,584 tonnes annually, roughly 10% of its total. A battery energy storage system has also been added to store excess solar power and stabilize electricity supply for operations. The project supports Honda's global goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and Malaysia's renewable energy push. Honda Malaysia plans to expand solar to its parts warehouse in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, by 2027. The investment shows how industrial manufacturing can integrate on-site solar and storage to reduce grid reliance and emissions directly.
