Holcim launches CaptureLab carbon capture test platform for cement decarbonization in France
ad-hoc-news.deHolcim has launched CaptureLab, an industrial-scale carbon capture test platform at its Martres-Tolosane cement plant in France. The facility covers 2,500 square meters and uses a plug-and-play design to test multiple capture technologies including chemical absorption, membrane separation, and cryogenic methods directly on real flue gas streams. Air Liquide has installed a Cryocap pilot unit at the site as one of the early collaborations. The platform allows Holcim to compare energy use, capture efficiency, and integration complexity across different technologies under the same operating conditions. This open-innovation model aims to speed up the transition from pilot testing to full-scale deployment. The company has not disclosed specific capex figures, so the announcement serves more as a strategic and ESG signal for investors tracking industrial decarbonization efforts in hard-to-abate sectors like cement.
